Another toxic little toad exposes the problem with pursuing diversity for its own sake. I’ll just make two quick points:
Giving people an ultimatum they might refuse….
One – He says:
“How do we deal with that diversity? And my answer to that is: By ensuring our values determine how we deal with diversity and not giving up our values to refuse diversity”
He clearly does not believe that real diversity exists. The only way what he’s saying makes any sense whatsoever is if there is a default universal human value system. For better or worse, there isn’t. The model he wants to propogate can only exist in Europe if a bunch of people absolutely do give up their values.
A trivial example: If (most) Europeans have the value “Husbands and wives should be equal partners in a marriage” and a large number of new arrivals to Europe have the value “A husband is in charge of his wife” then there’s no way for both groups to maintain their values under any kind of common legal system, either one group adopts the value of the other group or they maintain separate legal systems.
If a man physically abuses his wife, then he’s violating the group value (reinforced by laws) and can be legally punished. But he’s not violating the values of the second group and their laws will reinforce his dominance over his wife.
That’s one small example, multiply it by a hundred (or just ten) and try to imagine how a common legal system can work. It can’t. This is one reason why separate and parallel legal systems are emergin in Europe.
Two – He says:
“Europe will not remain a place of peace and freedom”.
He’s giving away more than he realizes. He is explicitly threatening those who oppose the EU agenda of diversity über alles with imprisonment or worse. He’s also saying, as clearly as possible, that there is no peaceful way to convince him (and other EU leaders) to change their policy.
The danger is that European citizens will take him at his word and say: Fine, then war it is!
That’s not what I want, but I’m very sure that’s going to happen without large changes in policy that the EU leadership does not want to make.
