Sometimes wandering through the contradictory and odd reports on coronavirus I have the idea that rather than separate strains there are actually separate viruses. There’s one that spreads slowly, is not easily contagious but is very dangerous and hard to root out once it’s established and other (maybe more a couple) that spread(s) quickly and isn’t very dangerous at all.
I’m sure that isn’t the case but it surely seems like it, the list of possible symptoms and the different courses the illness takes seem much more like different viruses? diseases? rather than normal variation to a single virus.
What am I missing? How many other viruses have so many strange and random symptoms and take such diverse courses (looking both at individual cases and the reactions by different populations)?
